Faculty Academic - History Scholarship

The History Faculty Academic Scholarship awards $500 to a student registered for the Winter 2021 semester for 6 or more credit hours.
Criteria

  • Pursuing a program of study or courses at Schoolcraft College.
  • Completed at least 12 credit hours at Schoolcraft College before the Fall 2020 semester.
  • Currently enrolled in a History course and have at least a 3.0 Schoolcraft College cumulative grade point average.
  • Submit an original essay of approximately 500-750 words on the topic listed below:

2020 Essay Topic
One of the competencies for every history course is for students to be able to “Relate the human experience — using history — to contemporary times.”

As part of the application for the History Faculty Scholarship, please include an original 500-750 word essay in which you use history to reflect on a contemporary issue. When the history faculty read the essays that are submitted, they will be particularly impressed by students who cite sources from peer reviewed, academic journals as part of their reflections.
