Faculty Academic - Art and Design Scholarship

This scholarship has been developed to recognize outstanding students enrolled in the Department of Art and Design at Schoolcraft College.

The Department of Art and Design Faculty Scholarship awards $500 to a student who will be registered in 6 credit hours (3 or more of these credit hours must be in studio art or art history courses offered by the Department of Art and Design) during the Winter 2021 semester.

Criteria

  • Prior to the current Fall semester, the applicant must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Schoolcraft College including at least 3 credit hours in a course offered by the Department of Art and Design.
  • The applicant must have cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 completed in coursework at Schoolcraft College.
  • The applicant must be currently (Fall 2020) enrolled in at least a 3 credit-hour course offered by the Department of Art and Design.
  • The applicant must submit a short statement of their goals and why they are applying for the Department of Art and Design Faculty Scholarship.
  • A physical portfolio of 3 – 5 art works demonstrating the applicant’s talent and conceptual ability is required for scholarship consideration. At least one of the pieces should be a project from a Schoolcraft Art Course. This physical portfolio should be submitted to the Art Department’s office, F593. The applicant may also upload a digital version of their portfolio to the online application. If submitting a digital version of the portfolio it should be uploaded where indicated to the online application.

Supplemental Questions

  2. Submit a short statement of your goals and why you are applying for the Department of Art and Design Faculty Scholarship.
  3. In addition to the online application, the applicant must submit a portfolio of recent work that includes projects or papers completed in a studio or art history course offered by the Department of Art and Design. This portfolio should be submitted in digital or physical form to Art Department’s office, F593. Please upload a digital version with the online application.
  4. I am currently enrolled in at least a 3 credit-hour course offered by the Department of Art and Design this fall semester.
  5. By submitting my Faculty Scholarship application, I am authorizing the college to release information about me and my essay (if applicable) to internal and/or external media, with the potential to be published.
